Jan and Rien van den Wijngaard run this family business with a 100 year long history of making traditional cheese. Only the finest milk is used for making Reypenaer cheese. The cows are free to roam outside during the Dutch summer when the mixture of rain and pleasant temperatures provides the ideal conditions for the growth of lush green grass. 

This cheese is given three years in the 100 year old traditional maturing room. This provides an optimum climate of mild summer temperatures with high humidity for the development of flavour.

Reypenaer XO has a dark orange paste from its extended ageing with a firm, dry, flaky texture. It has a very complex palate of roasted nuts and salted butterscotch.
